Misspelled Medications in Health Treatments

One of the most common mistakes is misspelling a medication. To be removed from your drop-down menu choices, it must be corrected on all animal records with that misspelled medication. This includes animals with a status of Active, Sold, Reference or Dead.

In this example, the medication was entered as 'Sprint Shorts' instead of 'Spring Shots.'

Our recommended action is to create a treatment report with the criterion set for the misspelled medication. This will give you a list of all animals that need to have the treatment corrected.

Creating a new report

Select the Treatments report from the Other Animals section of the Reports page.

Filter for the Misspelled Medication to get a report of the animals that have that recorded.

This produces a list of all animals with the misspelled treatment.

Removing the medication from the treatment cannot be done by a group update action. The treatment must be corrected on each animal. Locate the animal and click on the Treatment Date that has the error.

Click on Edit.

Select the correct spelling from the Drop-Down. You will need to add the correct spelling of the medication the first time under "Add a new Medication". Then it will be available in the drop-down. Then click on Update Treatment.

This will change the treatment on that animal's Treatments record.

Continue through the animals from your report - editing and selecting the correct spelling from the drop-down.

When you have completed the updates, the medication will not show on the drop-down anymore.  If the misspelling continues to be on your drop-down menu, we recommend rerunning your treatment report to ensure you haven’t missed any animals (this shall include active, sold, dead and reference animals)
