Using TagMax for Pregnancy Checking
While we do not have a way to import the results of the pregnancy checks directly into CattleMax, it is possible to make entry of pregnancy check data an easier task.
Whether the animals you are pregnancy-checking have EID tags or only visual tags, you can use the TagMax app.
Set up custom fields in TagMax
When you are setting up your session in TagMax, add two custom fields - one called Preg Results and the other called Preg Time.
Conduct your session chute-side
If your animals do have EID tags, then as you scan the EID ear tag, you can enter the pregnancy check result and enter the time in either months or days in TagMax. When you have finished the session, you can send it to CattleMax to create a cattle group of the animals that you worked on. To do this click on the send icon (rectangle with an arrow pointing up) and select the CattleMax logo on the bottom row of your smart device.
Open CattleMax and click on Cattle > View all groups and interfaces. You will see a new group that has the session name you just sent. This group will be all the animals you worked that have a matching EID tag already entered in CattleMax.
If your animals only have visual ID ear tags, then as you manually input the visual ear tag, you can enter the pregnancy check result and enter the time in either months or days in TagMax.
Email the session file to yourself
No matter which tag you use for your cattle, send the session to your email for viewing. To do this click on the send icon (rectangle with an arrow pointing up) and select the Mail icon on the top row. An email will open with the file attached to it; enter your email address to send it to your email inbox. Then open your email account to download the TagMax session file to your desktop. Finally, either print it or open it so you can see the results for reference as you perform the steps below in CattleMax for data entry.
Perform a group update to enter data
Select all the animals from the new group if you used the EID steps or simply select the correct animals from a smart group if you used the visual ID steps. Then click on Update Selected Animals > Add Pregnancy Checks > Continue. On the next screen, in the top section enter the Pregnancy check date, Check Method, Default Pregnancy Status (usually this would be Pregnant.) Then click Overwrite Existing Values and Pre-fill values. Then go to the body and change Pregnant to Open or Recheck as needed, enter the days or months pregnant then click Create Pregnancy.
