Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CCIA)

The CCIA integration in CattleMax generates files for the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency's Canadian Livestock Tracking System, including birth registrations, retirements, and movements.

Turning on the integration

  1. Start by going to Settings (gear icon in top left of account) > Account Settings > Integrations 
  2. Toggle the CCIA integration to “ON” > Click on the green “Update Account” button

  1. Navigate to the Cattle screen > Look for “Industry Data Interfaces” in the bottom right of the screen (you should see 2 additions: Canadian Cattle Identification Agency (CLTS) and Beef InfoXchange System (BIXS). 

CCIA Interface and how it works

  • Click the tab corresponding to the file to generate (Birth, Retired, Move In, Move Out)
  • Enter CCIA Account Number and animal species
  • Select date range
  • Click the appropriate download button, saving the file to your desktop
  • Visit the Canadian Livestock Tracking System website and upload your file

Beef InfoXchange System (BIXS) and how it works

Online, industry-wide database designed to facilitate two-way information flow across the Canadian beef supply chain.

  • Export animals to BIXS (specify birth date range)

  • Export actions to BIXS. Actions may include any of the following:
    • Movements 
    • Weights 
    • Diet/Ration 
    • Growth Promotant 
    • Management 
    • Program
    • Test

  • Import Carcass
    • Download carcass data from the BIXS website in CSV format and import it here. 

Tip from the team: CattleMax uses the Electronic ID field to retrieve data for individual animals in your account. Please ensure the EID fields are populated for the animals you are looking to report.
