Import KMZ files into your Pastures
Importing KMZ Files into Your CattleMax Account
You can now import KMZ files from other mapping programs (such as Google Earth) directly into your CattleMax account to quickly create pastures with boundary outlines. This is a great way to bring in existing pasture maps without needing to redraw them from scratch.
How to Import a KMZ File into CattleMax
- Log in to your CattleMax account.
- Go to the Pastures screen.
- Click on the “Import Data” button at the top right of the Pastures page.
- Choose your KMZ file from your computer. (Please note: Only .kmz file types are supported at this time.)
- Review the imported map boundaries – you’ll see the pastures appear on your map screen.
- Confirm and Save. Once you’re satisfied with the placement and outlines, click Save to add them to your CattleMax pastures list.
What is a KMZ file?
A KMZ file is a compressed version of a KML (Keyhole Markup Language) file and is often used to store geographic data like pasture boundaries. These files are commonly created and exported from programs like Google Earth or other GIS software.
Tips for a Successful Import
- Make sure your KMZ file contains polygon data, not just pins or paths.
- If your KMZ contains multiple features, each will be imported as a separate pasture.
- Check that your file is under 5MB for best performance.
