Connecting Allflex AWR300, APR250, and APR650 to a PC for Spreadsheet Data Collection

This article provides step-by-step instructions for connecting your Allflex EID reader to a Windows PC to scan tags directly into a spreadsheet.

Note: These directions do not work with Mac computers.

1. Configure the EID Reader

  1. Turn on the EID reader.
  2. Press Menu > Setup > Interface Setup > Bluetooth.
  3. Set BT Profile to HID and press the green button to save.
  4. Set Bluetooth Mode to Slave and press the green button to save.
  5. Exit the menu.

2. Pair the EID Reader with the PC

  1. Turn on your Windows PC.
  2. Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Make sure the Allflex EID reader is powered on.
  4. Click Add device.
  5. Select Bluetooth and wait for your EID reader to appear.
  6. When prompted for a pairing code, click Pair on both the PC and the EID reader.

3. Scan Tags into a Spreadsheet

  1. Open your spreadsheet application (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  2. Click on the cell where you want the EID number to appear.
  3. Scan a tag with the EID reader — the tag number will populate in the selected cell.

4. (Optional) Format the Column

EID tag numbers may appear in scientific notation. To fix this:

  1. Right-click the column heading (e.g., A, B, C).
  2. Select Format Cells.
  3. Choose Number and set Decimal Places to 0.
  4. Click OK.
