Herd Health, Preset Treatments, Booster and Withdrawal
To access Herd Health in your CattleMax account, you can go to the Dashboard/Cattle. On the right of the page you'll see Health. Click/touch that and the Herd Health area will open.
Making your group health treatments quicker and easier can be done by creating Preset Treatments. You will see the New Preset Treatment button under the Preset Treatments header on the right side of the screen. Click/touch that button and you can enter information for a particular vaccine used repeatedly and not have to enter that information every time you administer the treatment to a group of animals.
After completing the information, click/touch the Create Preset Treatment button. Then, the preset treatment will appear under the Preset Treatments header on the Herd Health screen and be available for selection as you administer individual or group health treatments.
Follow instructions in the Using Group Update to update multiple animals at once help article to create group health treatments.
Select the animals to be treated, then Update Selected Animals > Add Health Treatments > Continue. When the Group Update - Add Health Treatments window opens, you'll need to select the Preset Treatment from the drop-down list, which will fill in the information already entered as you created the preset treatment, then, enter the date of the treatment. If desired, complete the optional boxes (outlined in green below) for the treatment.
When that is done, click/touch the Create Treatments button at the bottom right. Your treatment will be added to the selected animals' records, the booster date calculated and the animals and their boosters will be added to the Booster tab in the Herd Health area. If there is a withdrawal period for the vaccine, you can put the number of days in the withdrawal box. Then, when complete, the animals within the withdrawal period will be shown on the Withdrawal tab on the Herd Health screen.
Note: The user has the choice of adding the withdrawal and/or booster date in those boxes, or if the number of days has been entered into the boxes under Calculate Dates from # of Days, the dates will be automatically calculated when the Update button is clicked/touched.
When it is time or when the booster shots have been administered, go back to the Herd Health Screen, click the Booster tab, select the animals, click/touch Update Selected Animals, then complete the treatment entry steps as detailed above.
For vaccines administered with a withdrawal period, the animal will be shown on the Withdrawal tab on the Herd Health screen until the withdrawal period expires. A withdrawal notification will also appear on the animal's detail page.
Adding Multiple Health Treatments During a Single Group Update
Option 1 (Recommended): We recommend Option 1 because it is the only way to add multiple treatments to multiple animals while still being able to know the details of each medicine/treatment.
Follow the steps above as directed to create a separate Preset Treatment for each type of medicine. Select the animals that will be receiving identical multiple health treatments by following the usual Group Update steps for the first treatment then click the "Run Another Group Update" button to quickly add the 2nd treatment and so forth.
Example: Within a smart group or pasture place a checkmark next to the required animals > Update Selected Animals > Add Health Treatments > Continue > Select the first Preset Treatment (fill in the information as needed) > Create Treatments > Run Another Group Update > Add Health Treatments > Continue > Select the second Present Treatment (fill in the information as needed) > Create Treatments. You will repeat those steps until all treatments have been added to that particular animal set.
Option 2: Composite drug
Follow the steps above to create a single Preset Treatment detailing the treatments performed on the same date. You might title the Preset something like Spring Herd Work, Fall Treatments, or Calf Treatments, etc. The drugs given can be entered in the Comments section of the treatment. Select the animals that will be receiving these treatments and follow the usual Group Update steps for adding Health Treatments.
